Singer/Songwriter/Keyboardist
Rogue Johnsen built an impressive resume in preparation for
the Project. Like many of his contemporaries, he was inspired to
become a musician by recordings. Unlike most, however, Rogue Johnsen
moved from D.C. to Seattle, from Oakland to Austin and back to Virginia,
seeking out, apprenticing and learning from the greats: only student
of Charles "Merry Christmas Baby" Brown; sideman for Bo
Diddley, Johnny Adams, Norton Buffalo, Larry "Arkansas"
Davis, and Sam Andrew (Janis Joplin), Rogue has toured nationally
and internationally with W.C. Clark, Miss Lavelle White, and Archie
Bell and the Drells.
In 2017, Rogue Johnsen Trio with Lady D was voted the DC
Blues Societys Best Blues Band. Rogue Johnsen
Project was formed with the critically acclaimed release of
the recording, 20/20. Dedicated to continuing the traditions
of Blues and Roots music and to recording and performing new music
that passes on the spirit of those traditions, the band was named
by co-producer/guitarist, Mike Dutton. The Projects
first recording session was in 2020, with Joe Wells on drums.
Richmond legend and Northern Virginia Blues Hall of Fame Inductee,
Mark Saurs joined on guitar and vocals in 2023. Adding Lance
Foster on drums, Rogue Johnsen Project began recording HOME.
Available 02/23/2024, HOME was co-produced by Rogue and Mark
Saurs and mixed at Wally Cleavers in Fredericksburg, with the majority
being recorded at Rogues studio, The Cuckoos Nest.
Rogue Johnsen Project is currently performing in support
of HOME while preparing more projects to release (songs will
be available to purchase and stream throughout 2024!). |
