Rogue
Johnsen learned his craft as a blues piano player,
singer, and songwriter backing up blues recording artists out
of Oakland, CA and Austin, TX. He has had some amazing teachers
and has toured nationally and internationally with Archie
Bell & the Drells, The W.C.
Clark Blues Review, and Miss Lavelle
White.
He has also performed professionally with Bo
Diddley, Catfish Hodge,
Big Jessie Yawn, and a number of
other artists, and has opened for an impressive number of Blues
legends, including B.B. King, Albert
King, Buddy Guy, and others.
In 2016, he released two CDs of his music, Way
Back (a previously unreleased recording of his
band work from Austin) and Trouble
Blues (recorded live in the studio in early 2016).
And
more recently, the 2024 release of HOME
(recorded as the Rogue Johnsen Project).
